The friendly service and hospitality of Taiwan Pavilion of Shanghai Expo, Taiwan Pavilion defeated many competition and was rated by the famous Japanese magazine, "FLASH" as the first ranked pavilion.
The sales quantity of FLASH in Japan is at least 300 thousand. Out of 143 main pavilions, journalists selected "the best 10 pavilions” and the first one is Taiwan Pavilion to be scored at 80.
FLASH pointed out that it has been 40 years since Taiwan’s last participation in Osaka World Expo in 1970. This time, visitors can look from the giant filming ball of Taiwan Pavilion and the 720 degree of screen theater to experience Taiwanese nature, history and culture.
They particularly stated that "Although there was no amazing high technology, the tour guide is very thoughtful. You can actually feel the hospitality and courtesy of Taiwanese which shows the tremendous difference from the mainland Chinese. "
Chief Curator of Taiwan Pavilion, Ming-shui Yeh pointed that Taiwan Pavilion found thirty outstanding university students from the mainland along with the selected 16 Taiwanese as guides to explain in details for each group of visitors into the pavilion. Taiwan is the only pavilion in Expo to make such a detailed explanation to every visitor, while the other pavilions only explain to VIP.
He said that in the beginning, the mainland guides did not know how to greet; for example, they would say, “Please line up to take the souvenirs”. However after being re-trained, they rephrased it as, “Welcome to Taiwan Pavilion, we have prepared a souvenir for you.”
Then the 2nd ranked pavilion is Saudi Arabia, scored at 78 for its visual effect, which is the most expensive pavilion (cost NT 5.5 billion dollars). China Pavilion scored at 70 is ranked the third for its look being very oriental and crown like and also the showing of Qingming River Festival. Then from the 4th to 8th are Korean Pavilion, French Pavilion, Japanese Pavilion, Spanish Pavilion and African Joint Pavilion respectively.
Ming-shui Yeh expressed yesterday that, although many mainland areas and corporations would like to lobby for the stay of Taiwan Pavilion but the organizer of Taiwan External Trade Development Council hopes to keep Taiwan Pavilion in Taiwan after the finish of Expo. Meanwhile Tainan, Ilan and other places are also lobbying for the stay at their cities.
